As Harry Potter-itis continues to afflict nearly every man, woman and child, the other readers out there might be interested in something a little more, well, adult. Devils in the Sugar Shop, a novel by Midwesterner Timothy Schaffert, is grown and then some. With adult-themed parties, affairs galore, nude models and a pornographic stalker, Devils reveals Omaha in ways you never dreamed possible. But despite the adult themes, this book isn’t smutty: It’s about real life, which is always a bit sordid, isn’t it? Schaffert pleasures us with his presence from 4 to 6 p.m. at Main Street Books (307 South Main Street, St. Charles; 636-949-0105 or www.mainstreetbooks.net). He’ll read from and sign his book, and chocolates and champagne are served. Now, that’s our kind of reception!
