Small Kahunas Need not Apply

Radio celebrities have it tough. Virtually unrecognizable by sight (unless you count the eternally handsome Casey Kasem), DJs rely on their golden throats to make their mark. At long last, several local radio personalities get the chance to step away from the mic and show their beer-pouring and martini-shaking skills at the Big Kahuna Celebrity Bartender Challenge, taking place at 6 p.m. at Side Pockets restaurant and sports bar (1439 Bass Pro Drive, St. Charles; 636-724-9300). On-air celebs scheduled to participate include Rick Wallace and Van Lorenz of the Arch (106.5 FM), Jill Devine of Movin (101.1 FM), and others. In addition to cheering on the bartending team you think should win the “big kahuna” trophy, you can participate in a 50/50 raffle and play a game of pool with one of these cocktail-mixing disc jockeys. The bartending show-down benefits Community Living, Inc., an agency that provides support to developmentally disabled adults. For more information on Community Living or the Big Kahuna fundraiser, visit www.cliservices.org. Admission costs $3.
