And now we’re down to the nitty-gritty. Or maybe it’s the nitty-glittery. Sometime Sunday night (July 29), a new Miss Gay Missouri will be crowned -- but first the field of competitors, hailing from all corners of the state, must dance, strut and stun their way through the preliminaries of this grueling competition. Friday and Saturday night (July 27 and 28), the Grey Fox Pub (3503 South Spring Avenue; 314-772-2150 or www.mgmpageant.com) is the place to be, as the contestants pile on the glamour in the talent, solo-talent and evening-gown divisions. Showtime is 9 p.m. both nights, and there’s a $5 cover -- a small price to pay for being witness to some of the finest female impersonation you’ll ever see. The finals take place at the Millennium Hotel on Sunday night, starring the top ten contestants as determined on Friday and Saturday, plus Victoria DePaula (Miss Gay Missouri 2006) and the reigning Miss Gay America, Luscious. These ladies are more woman than you can handle, more man than you’ll ever be; if you doubt it, try dancing backward in high-heels for a couple hours.
