1993 was the year that both Counting Crows and Collective Soul became leaders of the post-grunge alt-rock era largely thanks to inescapable radio play for the former's "Mr. Jones" (off August and Everything After) and the latter's "Shine" (from Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid). Now respective front-dudes Adam Duritz and Ed Roland are banking on I Love the '90s nostalgia (and interest in forthcoming new albums) as they embark on a family-friendly tour of minor-league ballparks. The trek's no Woodstock '94, but expect reworkings of old favorites, the debut of new material and the inevitable clash of angsty introspection with mellow, lazy-summer atmospherics.
