Celebrating its 30th year of operation in 2007, Laumeier Sculpture Park plans to mark the occassion with the launch of its Movies and Music Nights. Giving back to their community is what turning thirty is all about, says Jennifer Duncan, Laumeier's Deputy Director, and that "Movies & Music is another way of connecting . . . to the arts and the natural environment that we feel is vital to our collective future." So, enjoy the free gift while it lasts; for three Friday nights in August (and one in September), a music performance graces the natural amphitheater at 6:30 p.m., followed by a movie at approximately 8:30 p.m. The series gets underway with the phenomenal Javier Mendoza and the family favorite Shrek 2. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, food, and beverages but pets, sadly, are not permitted in the park. If you feel less like carting a cooler around and would rather grab a bite at the park, Laumeier has their concessions covered. The Laumeier Sculpture Park is located at 12580 Rott Road in Sunset Hills. For more information, call 314-821-1209 or visit www.laumeier.org
