Prints of Cats

Dogs are regarded as loyal, loveable and enthusiastically friendly; they have been immortalized in art as poker-playing lowlifes. Cats are regarded as aloof, distant and skittish; artists depict them as icons of mystery and seduction. You see what happened there? Snobbery gets you everywhere. Feline Impressions, a new exhibit of art inspired by the insouciance of cats, recently opened in Gallery 321 of the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park (314-721-0072 or www.slam.org). Featuring prints by Albrecht Dürer, Max Beckmann and Franz Marc, Feline Impressions revels in the majestic enigma that is the Cat. The show remains up through Sunday, December 2.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 24. Continues through Dec. 2, 2007
