The Lot

4 p.m. Saturday, August 25. Schlafly Tap Room, 2100 Locust Street.

LOCAL MOTION

For years now, Metropolis St. Louis'

The Lot has been a festival of note, collecting many of this city's best and brightest musicians on one heat-radiating parking lot. This year's showcase brings together some well-known names and a few lesser-known acts, like Tenement Ruth, a quintet that shows traces of ragged-but-right Americana through the honeyed vocals of its female lead singers. Say Panther fills out its dance-y, lo-fi nuggets with cheerleader vocals and Salvation Army horn charts, while Jumbling Towers harnesses a similar energy, albeit with streamlined arrangements and an irrepressible rhythm section. Also appearing are Bunnygrunt, Nite Owl, Jonathan Cour and 7 Shot Screamers. The free event starts in the afternoon and goes well into the evening — rain, shine or oppressive heat.
