BYO Parrot

Hey, have you heard about the new pirate movie? It’s rated Arrrrr. If that joke provoked a hearty tee-hee, then you are either a) five years old or b) joining us at the Greater St. Louis Pirate Festival. We assume it’s the latter, matey, so set sail for Rotary Park (2577 West Meyer Road, Wentzville; 636-928-4141 or www.stlpiratefest.com). This year’s Pirate Festival, presented by Renaissance St. Louis, boasts more food, drink and yo-ho-ho-inducing merriment than you can shake a peg leg at. Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., you can get your face painted, shop for everything from jewelry to art to leather goods or have your tarot cards read. And if the cards suggest that deliciousness is in your future, prove them right by grabbing lunch at the Celtic Cottage or enjoying a pint at the Dead Parrot Pub. There are also “Captain’s Cannonballs” (the landlubbers call ´em “deep-fried Oreos”), among other treats. One-day Pirate Festival passes are $6 to $12, and two-day passes are $8 to $20 (kids younger than five get in free). The festival continues each Saturday and Sunday (September 15 through 30).
Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Sept. 15. Continues through Sept. 30, 2007
