ECOTONES of Home

The Santa Monica architecture firm Pugh + Scarpa designs buildings that are futuristic -- and not just in appearance. Many of the company’s projects feature sustainable elements, making these the structures of, and for, the future. You can learn more about this firm, its goals and its successes when principal Lawrence Scarpa (pictured) lectures on Monday, September 17, at Steinberg Hall Auditorium on the Washington University campus (Forsyth and Skinker boulevards). Scarpa’s talk is the second of three events that make up the ECOTONES Lecture Series, which is sponsored by the university and Laumeier Sculpture Park (the invited speakers are finalists for a proposed project at the park). The free presentations begin at 6:30 p.m. and are preceded by a half-hour reception in Givens Hall; for more information on this or Charles Rose’s appearance on Tuesday, September 25, visit www.samfoxschool.wustl.edu.
