Grove Is in the Heart
You know that a neighborhood has truly arrived when it becomes a destination for some kind of street party. Soulard has Mardi Gras, the Central West End does Halloween up right, and the Grove, a.k.a. Forest Park Southeast, offers Grovefest. This party, which is sponsored in part by the RFT, happens on Manchester Avenue between South Boyle Avenue and South Sarah Street from 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday (September 15 and 16). You can check out twenty (!) local bands, try foods from some of the Grove’s eateries (including the Atomic Cowboy and the Church Key), get an eyeful at one (or more) of the five lingerie fashion shows (at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. on Saturday and at 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday), enjoy a temporary henna tattoo and then some!
