Herbert Hoover, the American president, is known for many things: He constructed a most-righteous dam, set aside oodles of national parkland, fought for many humanitarian causes and signed the always-fun-to-say Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. Herbert Hoover, the Boys & Girls Club, is also known for many things – chief among them its devotion to mentoring and empowering St. Louis youth. The “Walking into the Year with Style” Back 2 School Fashion Show, hosted by Project 24 and Xcel Models, is a fabulous fundraiser for the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club. Your $10 admission helps pay for the club’s annual “black history educational trip”; this year, the kids are spending four days in New York City’s legendary Harlem neighborhood. Models ages six to seventeen show off the coolest back-to-school fashions tonight in the main gymnasium of the Boys & Girls Club (2901 North Grand Boulevard). The fun begins at 7 p.m.; call 314-385-6633 for more information, and visit www.hhbgc.org to read about the club itself.
