By Ms. Day

True story: Ms. Day once found a kickass pair of Prada pumps at a thrift store! And while these beauties provide her with much happiness (as do most shoes), she’s found something footwear-related that’s even sweeter: an entire event devoted to shoes! A fabulous concept, right? But Walk in Her Shoes: A Shoe Fashion Show, presented by the nonprofit Every Step Counts, is more than just a good idea and an entertaining night out -- it’s a fundraiser that celebrates strong individuals who have survived domestic abuse and sexual assault. To see some fantastic footgear ranging from the practical to the haute, head over to the Bastian Center for the Performing Arts, which is located on the campus of St. Louis Community College-Forest Park (5600 Oakland Avenue). The stylish extravaganza begins at 7 p.m., and tickets cost $25 to $40; proceeds go to RAVEN (Rape and Violence End Now) and Woman’s Place, a safe house for women in need. To purchase tickets, visit www.walkinhershoes.org, and for more information about how to donate a ticket to a survivor, call 314-531-7463.
