In Your Farce

There’s something rather clever about play within a play. English playwright Michael Frayn takes the concept to new heights in Noises Off, a play about the soap opera mayhem going on backstage during a production of Nothing On, an English satire of carnal encounters (or lack thereof). As the cast becomes bored with the production and each other, the performance of Nothing On deteriorates while Noises Off becomes ever sharper. The students of the University of Missouri-St. LouisCollege of Fine Arts and Communication present this farce-in-farce at the Touhill Performing Arts Center's Lee Theater on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Dr. at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-4949 or www.touhill.org). Noises Off is performed at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (October 16 through 20); tickets are $8.
