The Duke Bluebeard shows his new wife, Judith, his expansive castle. She thinks its too dark and wishes to let in a little light. Duke Bluebeard objects, but his bride wins the argument and begins opening doors. She finds a torture chamber, weapons, a secret garden all stained with what appears to be blood. The Duke implores her to ask no questions and simply love him, but Judith presses on. What does she find in the other rooms? Youll have to attend Union Avenue Operas three productions of Béla Bartóks Duke Bluebeards Castle, at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Wednesday (October 26, 27 and 31) at the Union Avenue Christian Church (733 North Union Boulevard; 314-361-2881 or www.unionavenueopera.org) to find out.
