Your Afternoon Cup of Joe

Fans of the ear-candy-servin’ Sunday-morning KDHX (88.1 FM) staple “Lotsa A Cappella” are already hip to the indomitable pop-'n'-jazz vocal group Java Jived. But this afternoon at Christ Church Cathedral (1210 Locust Street), you’ll have a chance to hear the eight local singers live! Their selection of twentieth-century jazz standards and more is all killer, no filler, with promised cuts including “In the Mood,” “Georgia on My Mind” and a must-be-heard-to-be-believed “California Dreamin’.” The best news? Java Jived is doing it for free. That’s right, pro bono, for the public good, baby! The performance is part of the Shepley Concert Series, and it starts at 2:30 p.m. For all things Java Jived, hit up www.myspace.com/javajived, and call 314-965-1470 for more about the concert.
