Living in Harmony

By Alison Sieloff

Published on December 05, 2007

The Ambassadors of Harmony (www.aoh.org) are an a cappella group of 150 male singers, and while it's pretty amazing that musical director Dr. James Henry can get all those voices to harmonize, that's not the most astounding thing about this local chorus! The ensemble has practically won more prizes than it has members, and it was even awarded first place at the Barbershop Harmony Society's international chorus championship in 2004 (the AOH netted second place this year in the same competition). To hear a sampling of the group's amazing, award-winning vocals and to rejoice in the music of the holidays, head to the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road) when the Ambassadors fill the hall with the Sounds of the Season. Performances happen at 8 p.m. on Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday (December 7 through 9), and tickets for the concert cost $21 to $29 (at 314-516-4949 or www.touhill.org).
