Buyers and Cellars

By Ms. Day

Published on December 12, 2007

Ms. Day takes great pleasure in shopping, so she views the Christmas buying season as a time cluttered with shopping amateurs, much like New Year's Eve is with inexperienced drinkers. But while she's hustling around town and dealing with bad parkers, line-jumpers and the like, she won't despair this year at all because the nice people at the Saint Louis Cellars (2640 South Big Bend Boulevard, Maplewood; 314-880-9000 or www.saintlouiscellars.com) have invited her over. This brand-new wine shop offers tastings from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each Saturday (and from 5 to 7 p.m. on weekdays). Day will take refuge in the wine samples when she starts to feel annoyed and maybe even do a little shopping at the Cellars — all of the bottles here cost less than $20! And the Cellars' folks will wrap them for her! Now, that's stress-free gift-buying.
