Light Years Away from Ordinary

You can't ignore it: The holidays and their accoutrements — the sparkly garland and the twinkly lights and the cheery music — are all around us. But just when you think you'll never escape and that there can't possibly be any kind of event that will be powerful enough to allow you a break from all the December festivities, a light at the end of the holiday tunnel appears in the form of the multimedia performances May These Changes Make Us Light: Winter Show Collaborative. These adventures take place at 7 and 9 p.m. at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (3750 Washington Boulevard; $10), but you probably won't notice your surroundings much, what with the video projections on a ten-foot-tall plastic dome, Gravity Plays Favorites' gymnastic pole work, the Fireflies' light-as-air yoga-style acrobatics and music courtesy of Fire Dog, among others. And did we mention the belly dancing? Or that all of these elements and more are coming together to tell a story? A tale you won't soon forget, we imagine. Now, what time of year is it again?
