Memento Morrie

If you're not one of the 11 million souls worldwide who owns a copy of Mitch Albom's book Tuesdays with Morrie, consider yourself lucky and unlucky — lucky to have avoided the bout of depression it causes when you turn the last page, and unlucky to have missed such a refreshing emotional sock in the gut. Tuesdays with Morrie provides a lesson in appreciating what we have, living life to the fullest and every other commencement-speech cliché. And now it doesn't matter whether you've read the book or not, thanks to the stage adaptation by Albom and Jeffrey Hatcher. Experiencing the story of a once-inspired, now-cynical sportswriter hesitantly reconnecting with his dying college professor and receiving one last life lesson for his troubles will most certainly cause an outpouring of tears, hugs and, more than likely, another bucketful of tears. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents Tuesdays with Morrie at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 3, at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road, Webster Groves; 314-968-4925 or www.repstl.org). Tickets are $15 to $63, and the show continues through Sunday, January 27 (no performances on Monday).
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 2. Continues through Jan. 27, 2008
