Everybody on the Bus
Ah, the majesty of the bus. What? You don't think a bus ride is exciting? The Axis Theatre Company relieves you of that misconception with the funny and fast-paced The Number 14. Your ticket ($14 to $17) brings you aboard a bus packed with more than 50 characters, portrayed skillfully by only six actors through a combination of mime, physical comedy, music and dance. Your fellow travelers include tittering schoolgirls, a loudmouth, an old man who's on the wrong route — all the mundane people you never pay a second glance, revealed onstage as exemplars of the urban experience. The Number 14 departs at 7 p.m. Friday and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (February 15 through 17), and your bus stop is located at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-534-1111 or www.cocastl.org).
