Make a Boat of It

Despite the fact that this weekend's event at America's Center (Washington Avenue and North Eighth Street) is called the St. Louis Boat & Sportshow, even non-boat people will have a heck of a time. The DockDogs perform for the pet lovers, there's an owl-hooting contest for those who dig nocturnal birds of prey, and kid anglers can get into the mix during the Bassmaster CastingKids competition. And of course, there are plenty of boats of all sizes to view and boat-related seminars to attend. Thinking about going fishing in Alaska? Then you can't miss the Alaska Halibut & Salmon Fishing talk held Thursday, February 7, at 6 p.m. Want to do a better job of bringing home the crappie? Well, you better get to the America's Center by 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, for the Advanced Crappie Tactics lecture. For more information about these and other seminars as well as the rest of the show's offerings, visit www.stlouisboatshow.com. The St. Louis Boat & Sportshow runs from Wednesday through Sunday (February 6 through 10), and hours vary; admission costs $5 to $9.
