Tricks Are for Everyone

Did you know that the International Brotherhood of Magicians is headquartered in St. Louis? Seriously. St. Louis is the headquarters of magic. To prove it, you can try this yourself: Close your eyes, and this story will disappear. Go ahead; do it. Now open them: The story's back. Pretty cool, huh? OK, well much cooler than that is the 2008 Parade of Magic, happening this weekend. At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 15, magicians from all over the Midwest will be appearing (and disappearing) onstage at the Chesterfield Community Theatre in the West County Family YMCA (16464 Burkhardt Place, Chesterfield). Then, they'll be performing all manner of fantastic feats again at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, at the Robert G. Reim Theatre in the Kirkwood Community Center (111 South Geyer Road, Kirkwood). The magicians' greatest achievement? Donating their time each month at the Shriners Hospital for Children, where the magic helps make sadness disappear. Admission to all shows is $5 to $8 (visit www.ibmring1.com or call 636-947-1517), unless of course, you perform a little sleight of hand of your own.
Fri., Feb. 15; Sat., Feb. 16, 2008
