Eyes on the Prize

For 80 years now, through tough times and years of prosperity, Oscar has soldiered on with his sword in hand. Despite his small stature, he offers tremendous honor and prestige to those in his presence. Cinema St. Louis (the group behind the St. Louis International Film Festival) wants to bask in some of Oscar's golden glory, so the nonprofit has taken over the Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard) from 6 to 10:30 p.m. tonight to celebrate him from afar. Won't you party, too? You just need to don your "creative red-carpet attire" and buy a $50-to-$75 ticket (call 314-289-4153). This Oscar Night America soiree offers local celeb action, free drinks until 7 p.m., appetizers, a silent auction and, of course, a screening of the ceremony. And if you're broke but nevertheless enthusiastic about the Academy Awards, you can attend the festivities for free (but you won't get the complimentary cocktails or the special seating).
