Funny Business

What is funny, exactly? Your uncle's toupee might not be as amusing to your aunt as it is to you. A stand-up comedian who tells what are basically hoosier jokes may not be funny to that population (or to other people, really). Arrested Development, hilarious to all thinking people, evidently wasn't nearly as humorous to the powers that be at FOX. Funny is certainly difficult to define. But apparently not in Ireland. It seems the people of that island got together and chose "Ireland's Funniest Man" (how else would someone get that title?), and this guy is doing a show here in St. Louis! Laugh along Irish-style when Noel V. Ginnity puts on a traditional Irish cabaret, complete with dance and song, at 7 p.m. at the Eagan Center (Parker Road and Waterford Drive, Florissant). Your $35 ticket (purchase in advance by calling 314-921-5678) not only gives you the chance to help raise money for the Florissant Parks Foundation and have your funny bone tickled, but it also nets you a corned beef and cabbage dinner with beer and wine to wash it down! Now, that meal's not really funny (at least not from over here) — it's just a deliciously great deal!
