Reel World

Have you seen the sights of Paris, traveled across Mexico and snuck through Cuba? Some could mistake trekking to these "exotic" locales (along with Vienna, Amazonia, Curryville and New London) for quick drive-bys of small Missouri cities. If you're one of these homebody types who doesn't cross the state line, allow only your mind to venture to lands beyond during this month's Ciné 16 film program, "Where in the World Is Ciné 16?" Sponsored by the Academic Film Archive of North America (AFA) and the Missouri History Museum, this free event highlights short films that will help you discover new cultures and faces from around the globe. The AFA works to preserve academic films made in North America from the early 1900s through 1985; selections from this collection will be shown in their original 16 mm format at 7 p.m. at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org). Candy, soda, beer and popcorn are available for purchase.
