Now in its fourth year, the Italian Film Festival celebrates Italian-made movies (duh) that illustrate the unique nature of modern Italian life: Passionate, neurotic, charming and unpredictable, much like a Roberto Benigni Oscar acceptance speech. The festival begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at Brown Hall on the Washington University campus (Forsyth and Skinker boulevards), with It’s Not Our Fault, or Ma che colpa abbiamo noi. Staring actor-director Carlo Verdone, this 2003 comedy tells the story of eight group-therapy members so wrapped up in their personal healing that they don’t even notice when the group’s psychiatrist expires before their very eyes. However, they do eventually notice and decide to continue meeting without him. The film festival continues on Saturday with Along the Ridge (Anche libero va bene), and then screens one movie each night every Friday and Saturday through April 19. All films are shown in 35mm with English subtitles, and admission is always free. For more information, check out www.italianfilmfestivalstlouis.com or call 314-422-3102.
Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: April 4. Continues through April 19, 2008
