War: What Is It Good For?

Think back to your first love. Man, it was intense, wasn’t it? A little silly and trite at times perhaps, but those feelings were powerful, if not eternal. When Mary and Charlie were young like you once were, they met and were bitten by the love bug not long after, despite having different backgrounds (she just moved to Canada from England; he was a farmer). All was going on as young love does — but then World War I came along. Charlie, being a respectable and devoted fellow, left to serve his country. Did he return home to marry his sweetie? Learn the answer as their story is revealed through a nonlinear dream, thanks to the Echo Theatre Company. The group stages Mary’s Wedding at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday (April 4 through 20) at the Third Baptist Church (620 North Grand Boulevard). Admission to this play costs $15 to $20, and you can purchase your ticket by visiting www.echotheatrecompany.org — but you’ll have to bring your own tissues from home (hint, hint).
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: April 4. Continues through April 20, 2008
