Local folks love to add lowbrow flourishes to high-class functions — it keeps us grounded and reminds us of our hoosier heritage. This type of synergy may reach perfection with tonight's Hot Wings & Wine Tasting, which unites two ends of the culinary spectrum. You can impress your friends with comments like, "Don't those sparkly finishing notes of the Riesling pair nicely with the tongue-blistering fury of these hot wings?" Just try to keep your smudgy, Buffalo-sauce-stained fingerprints off of the nice wine glasses. The networking event is a fundraiser for the National Hospice Partnership Foundation, which assists families dealing with terminal illness by offering home-health alternatives. The fundraiser takes place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Cabanne House in Forest Park (5300 Lindell Boulevard). Admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and reservations can be made online at www.nhpfdn.org. For more information call 314-815-3410.
