Maybe you've heard the rumors — and they are just rumors — that the City Museum (701 North 15th Street; 314-231-2489 or www.citymuseum.org) was perilously close to being shut down. The truth is, the City Museum is doing just fine. But when the rumors were swirling, an online contingent sprang forth to save the City Museum. Even though the movement wasn't necessary, head hombre Bob Cassilly appreciates all the people who were willing to rally to his side — so much so that tonight from 6 p.m. to midnight, he's throwing a Fight for Your Right to Slide Party as a public thank-you. Admission is free, food is free, and two bands will perform. The slide is not only free, it's mandatory. PHOTO BY MIKE DeFILIPPO
