A Second Season

With eight more seasons

Do the members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra ever sleep? The symphony's regular season is complete, and yet rather than take a well-deserved break, the whole gang's back at Powell Symphony Hall (517 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1700 or www.slso.org) for the second (!) installment of the new SLSO Casual Classics series, The Four Seasons: Vivaldi and Piazzolla. Vivaldi's Four Seasons is a perennial favorite, familiar even to people who don't listen to classical music; Piazzolla's Cuatro Estaciones Porteñ;as is roughly the same idea as Vivaldi's but is inspired by Buenos Aries instead of Venice, so the seasons bristle with jagged Nuevo Tango rhythms and swingin' cosmopolitan jazz flourishes. Casual Classics kicks off at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $25 to $40.
