Forget mulching, weeding and digging your way to a gorgeous back yard this summer. No matter how much you sweat and toil, your little patch of land is never going to look as top-notch as the Missouri Botanical Gardens (4344 Shaw Boulevard). And since the Mobot staff graciously allows you to host your summer picnics on their lawn one night a week, you might as well forget the yard work this summer. That's right, the Whitaker Music Festival is back at the Cohen Amphitheater every Wednesday through August 13. St. Louis favorite Erin Bode starts off the festival in style on Wednesday, June 4, and admission is free after 5 p.m. The Children's Garden remains open until 7 p.m., and performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Picnics are welcome, but please leave pets and barbecue grills at home.
