Tired of sitting in bars full of twentysomethings who begin conversations with "Wanna see my iPhone?" or "Did you watch last night's Rock of Love?" Ready to meet people whose idea of "reading material" includes more than just PerezHilton.com? Then you'll definitely want to spend time with the Young Literati. These youthful professionals are devoted to supporting one of our city's greatest treasures: the library. At tonight's Young Literati of the St. Louis Public Library Summer Kickoff, you can mingle with fellow book-lovers, enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and delight in the music of Brazilian band Samba Bom (pictured). The reception begins at 6 p.m., the concert starts at 7 p.m., and all of this free fun is located — appropriately enough — at the central branch of the St. Louis Public Library (1301 Olive Street; 314-340-2403 or www.slplfoundation.org).
