Terror at Off Broadway
Murder, mayhem and mirth
Between the 1930s and 1960s, entrepreneurial hucksters traveled the country carny-style presenting live spook shows to wide-eyed spectators. Filled with magic tricks, cheap scares and gorillas let loose in the audience, the classic spook show has since gone the way of the drive-in movie. But Charles Band, founder of Full Moon Features and the guiding force behind the Puppet Master films, has recaptured that spirit in The Full Moon Horror Road Show, which rolls into town at 9 p.m. this evening at Off Broadway (3509 Lemp Avenue). Band’s show promises interactive audience-participation segments, clips from Band’s many films, special-effects demonstrations and a plethora of puppets from the Full Moon films. The evening’s guests include The Devil’s Rejects stars Sid Haig and Bill Moseley. Haig’s storied career in cult films dates back to his star-making turn alongside Lon Chaney Jr. in Spider Baby, while Moseley first gained notoriety as Chop Top in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
