You feign interest in after-work happy hours but long for something more out of the ordinary. You're looking for a place where you can hide your irises behind cat-eye contacts, coat your lips in black eyeliner, lace up a patent-leather corset and have coworkers be none the wiser. Finally, your tears can end (or begin) tonight at Dante's (3221 Olive Street; 314-652-2369 or www.dantesstl.com), where goths of all shapes and hair colors gather to enjoy music and perhaps a bloody mary or two. The Burlesque Masque is an evening filled with live goth rock from South Africa-based the Awakening (that's band member Ashton Nyte pictured), a performance by the Alley Cat Revue and even more too-much-mascara-wearing fun. Pay $10 to pass through the doors at 9 p.m., and be sure to wear your best goth masquerade attire.
