Instead of complaining about the heat and humidity of St. Louis summers, you need to embrace the elements and spend more time outside. After all, you're never going to live through August if you don't get acclimated now! The perfect way to start conditioning yourself is to attend the free Whitaker Urban Evening Series events, which are presented by Grace Hill. These concerts happen at 7 p.m. every Thursday through July 24 at St. Louis Place Park (St. Louis and Rauschenbach avenues), and while all of them will be fun, the Thursday, July 10, show promises to really warm things up with a performance by Javier Mendoza. Javier will raise your temperature with his good looks in addition to his songs — which incorporate a little flamenco, a bit of rock and a few other genres — making for an incredibly sultry summer night, regardless of where the mercury actually registers! Plus, when you look around at the revival efforts going on in north St. Louis, you'll get that other warm and fuzzy feeling. To learn more about the series and the scheduled performers, call 314-539-9500 or visit www.gracehill.org. And note: Food vendors will be in the park, and each concert also offers a little something for the kids.
Thursdays. Starts: July 10. Continues through July 24, 2008
