Gravy Train!!!!

9 p.m. Sunday, July 13. The Bluebird, 2706 Olive Street

Published on July 09, 2008

These days, it seems that every chump with a Fruity Loops bootleg and short-shorts has their own ironic/electronic solo project, but few have mastered the art of electroshock and aww-yeah like Gravy Train!!!! The Oakland quartet's thrift-store drum machines, scratchy keyboards and over-abundance of handclaps could drawn comparisons to sassmasters Le Tigre and LCD Soundsystem. However, the boys and girls of Gravy Train!!!! are more notorious for the explicit things that spew forth from their X-rated mouths, such as the poetic, almost Shakespearean, couplet "long in the pants, short in the weiner/suckin' my muff like a vacuum cleaner." Those whose entertainment preferences rarely qualify as "family-friendly" would be hard pressed to find something sillier, sweatier, and sexier on a Sunday night in St. Louis. Fun has a first name; it's G-R-A-V-Y.
