Funny Business

That's funny ha-ha

The Improv Trick, which was founded by St. Louisan and comedian Bill Chott (pictured), has been teaching comedy and spreading smiles around town for three years now. That's quite an achievement! To offer your congratulations, head out to one of several fun (and funny) goings-on this week. At 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, there's the free long-form improv jam, held at the Improv Trick (2715 Cherokee Street; 314-922-1998 or www.theimprovtrick.com), and the Family Jam, a benefit for the Special Olympics (admission costs $5), happens at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 18, at the Playhouse at Westport Plaza (I-270 and Page Avenue, Maryland Heights). Then on Saturday, July 19, the hilarity returns to Cherokee with the Improv Trick Anniversary Party & Student Showcase. This free celebration runs from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.; laughs are provided, but you need to bring your own drinks. And it doesn't stop there! Your funny bones have just a day to rest because on Monday, July 21, Chott's Comedy on Parade continues its weekly amusements from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Atomic Cowboy (4140 Manchester Avenue); admission is $8. Whew! That's a lot of laughs! And we're sure there will be many, many more to come.
