More About

The classic form of the “rock & roll show flyer" has been, like most things in this Age of the Interwebs, digitized, pixelated and then slapped between lolcatz and “omg, I'm so drunk” screeds on sloppy adolescent MySpace pages. Frankly, it's hard to believe anyone even looks at posters anymore, let alone appreciates them as works of art. But wait: Here comes the ImPOSTERs, an exhibit in which local and national artists take back the power of the poster. The bands promoted are fictional, the venues are imagined, but somehow that seems appropriate; the focus is the medium, not the message. ImPOSTERsopens with a free public reception on Thursday, July 17, at Gallery Visio on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Boulevard at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-7922 or www.umsl.edu/~galvisio). The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, and the show remains up through Thursday, August 21.
Mondays-Thursdays. Starts: July 17. Continues through Aug. 21, 2008
