Some artists may find inspiration in the human form or the outdoors, but not Ms. Day. She sees the beauty in bacon, the art in asparagus, the splendor in spaghetti. Every meal to her is a wondrous thing of magnificence, just primed for the artist's brush. And she's not alone. Or at least she won't be this evening. From 7 to 11 p.m. at the Art of Food event at the Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street), all manner of food enthusiasts gather together to revel in the grandeur of sustenance, specifically the kind of sustenance that's locally grown, environmentally friendly and exceptionally tasty. This benefit for Slow Food St. Louis offers eats from all kinds of area restaurants (including Niche, Annie Gunn's, Araka and others) and a cash bar, plus food-themed art from local artists! These works will be put up for auction, and you'd better count on Ms. Day staying on top of her bids — as long as she's not distracted by the fundraiser's other goings-on, like the food films and (especially) the food fashion.
