Not so very long ago, beer was just beer. We drank it, and we didn't think much about it. Now, with the recent Anheuser-Busch news, we've realized that it's possible for beer to be an important source of pride, not only for St. Louisans, but also for the entire country. Throughout the years A-B has been an integral part of the fabric of this city, and so many of us love the brewer for that. To honor the beer-maker, the Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Art Gallery (314-258-4299 or www.soulardartmarket.com) presents This One's for You..., a multimedia exhibition of works by several artists inspired by A-B. The show opens with two free receptions — from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday (August 14 and 15) — in the shadow of the brewery (the gallery is located at 2028 South 12th Street). Featured artists include Caren Libby (whose AB Poster is pictured) and Jack L. Smith, the latter of whom used to work for A-B, and the opening nights' tunes are provided by Nicole Adams. This One's for You... is on display Thursday through Sunday until Sunday, September 7.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 14. Continues through Sept. 7, 2008
