Trash to Treasure

An incredible transformation

Everyone's into repurposing stuff now. You've made your old T-shirts into a cozy memory quilt, and those old socks of yours have become amusing hand puppets. And while we're sure you're more than entertained at home with your new "friends," may we recommend that you get out tonight and have a look at what others have done with some found objects? The Drive Agency (1617 Locust Street) hosts the Do-It-Yourself Art Show: Recycled Rubbish and Waste, which features works by 30 or so local artists who have created art from items that have been discarded in the Mississippi River. The free reception begins at 5:30 p.m., and drinks and apps are served. To learn more about the gallery, visit www.driveagency.com. A portion of the art proceeds will benefit Living Lands & Waters, a group that strives to clean up the Mississippi.
