What happens when you stick 150 goths on a cruise ship full of “normal” people for a five day cruise? Why, lots of karaoke -- or scary-oke, as the goths call it -- of course, along with the nightly ritual of making a big batch of “goth soup” (relax, it’s just goths in a hot tub). Jeanie Finlay’s documentary Goth Cruise examines the morose subculture with open curiosity, opting for an exploration of what it means to be goth – and why it matters to those who make the choice – rather than exploiting them for their perceived freak factor. Goth Cruise screens at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday (August 29 through 31) at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries). Tickets are $5 to $6. Finlay will attend the Friday and Sunday screenings and host a Q&A session after the film.
