24 Frames per Second

24 hours per film

At 10 p.m. Friday, September 26, the Diesel Film Race challenges St. Louis' filmmakers to write, shoot, edit and submit an original short film by 10 p.m. the following day. To keep filmmakers honest, safeguards are in place to insure that the films are indeed the product of the 24-hour time frame: Participants receive an e-mail with a theme the film must incorporate (for example, "bad advice"), and an element or action which must be found within the piece (such as a pastrami sandwich or a nod of the head). The completed films screen at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, at the Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-995-6270 or www.filmracing.com). The audience members vote for their favorites, and the winning films go on to compete in nationwide competition. Tickets are $9.
