Dancing in the Street is one of those types of eye-candy festivals that you just don't want to miss. Now in its second year, this free event features so much dance that it will probably even get you dancing — in the streets, no less! Around 50 companies are participating in 2008, including beloved local groups and Neighbourhood Watch Stilts International (pictured), a street-theater ensemble from England whose members dress like birds, walk on stilts and display movement from within colorful fabrics — trust us, you won't want to miss them! Stages are placed all around Grand Center (on Olive Street, at North Grand and Lindell boulevards, on Grandel Square and on Washington Boulevard), and performances run from noon to 9 p.m.; visit www.grandcenter.org or call 314-289-1591 for more information. Also happening in Grand Center today is the free Green Homes & Renewable Energy Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the EarthWays Center (3617 Grandel Square; 314-577-0220 or www.earthwayscenter.org). During this fest you can learn about "green" innovations, purchase fair-trade gifts, eat well and more, all of which will round out what promises to be a grand day indeed.
