Here's the Scoop

Sweet treats by sunset

Shouldn't all fifth birthdays be commemorated with a delicious scoop of ice cream? At the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the answer is certainly "yes." Come celebrate the Contemporary's fifth anniversary while enjoying free, solar-power-generated ice cream every Tuesday through Sunday between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. through Friday, October 17. It's all part of the Light Project's Spencer Finch: Sunset exhibit, which features a St. Louis sunset watercolor by Finch and an "edible monochrome" of ice cream in colors inspired by the grandeur of the setting sun. The exhibit is mounted on the façade of the museum (3750 Washington Boulevard; 314-535-4660 or www.contemporarystl.org), with the solar panels that power the soft-serve unit suspended above the ice cream vendor near the museum's entrance. Finish your ice cream before venturing inside the museum; admission to the Contemporary is free through Saturday, October 18, in honor of the museum's anniversary.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 4. Continues through Oct. 17, 2008
