The Chesterfield Writers Guild offers readings

From the young Get Born poetry folks to the crafty vets at the River Styx readings, this town teems with spoken- and written-word art. Now, there's a new monthly series that celebrates our local writers: the River Valley Readings, which are presented by the Chesterfield Writers Guild on the second Wednesday of each month. At tonight's event Lindenwood University's director of the MFA in writing program, Eve Jones (pictured), busts out the verse, and Shirley Dowdy, a retired dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Saint Louis University, reads from her short fiction. Talk about a twofer! The reading is free, as are the refreshments, and the literary evening begins at 7 p.m. at Chesterfield Arts (444 Chesterfield Center; www.chesterfieldarts.org or 636-519-1955).
