Fall Into Liquid Style

By Paul Friswold

Published on October 07, 2008 at 4:41am

My fellow Americans: Am I qualified to write anything about Saint Louis Fashion Week's Liquid Style show? Well...I've been wearing the same black jeans for two straight months. They cost $15, and I want my money's worth. I buy my shoes secondhand (secondfoot?) when I buy them at all. My haircut is self-inflicted, and I buy my shirts in three-packs off the rack. In short, I am a style iconoclast — and so I'm eminently qualified to tell you about Liquid Style. The show features lines in Dillard's fall 2008 fashion collection, which includes similarly forward-thinking designers such as Ed Hardy, Dina Bar El, Tailor Byrd and Daniel Cremiuex. There's even a surprise designer in the show, and no, it's not me. Liquid Style takes place at 7 p.m. at Lumière Place (999 North Second Street; 314-881-7777 or www.saintlouisfashionweek.com). Tickets are $35 at the door, and there's a Budweiser Select after-party in Sleek, also in Lumière Place.
