Taking its name from the Czech word for "daybreak," the all-girl choir Jitro is the pride of Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic. The young ladies have won acclaim throughout Europe for their harmonic brilliance, and their energy brings new life to centuries-old hymns and carols. The choir will perform at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis (4431 Lindell Boulevard) at 8 p.m. as part of the Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts series, and girls' choirs from area high schools have been invited to come to Jitro's rehearsal and sing in a pre-concert event. Members of those area choirs will also join Jitro in the finale. Tickets are $15 to $35 and are available by calling 314-533-7662 or by visiting www.stlcathedralconcerts.org.
