Some of the most long-lasting art makes its mark through gentle, subjective interpretations of a scene instead of direct representation. For artist Eva Lundsager, the use of allusion and simile is crucial to her painting. Lundsager's watercolor and oil paintings work by suggestion rather than force, often using amorphous shapes and a warm, pastel-hued palette to create mystical landscapes and playful studies in color. An exhibition of Lundsager's recent paintings and watercolors opens with a free public reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at the Greenberg Van Doren Gallery (3540 Washington Boulevard). The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Lundsager's work remains up through Friday, December 12.
