Author Gregory Maguire has made a career expanding classic children's literature into new novels geared toward adults. While his work on the stories of Snow White and Cinderella received worldwide acclaim, Maguire's most famous revisionist series is his ongoing take on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The first book, Wicked, has seen huge success and has been adapted for Broadway, and the follow-up, Son of a Witch, continues to explore the history of the witches of Oz. But focus shifts to the Cowardly Lion in A Lion Among Men, which Maguire will be discussing and signing at 8 p.m. at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City). Two tickets are included with the advance purchase of A Lion Among Men from Left Bank Books (399 North Euclid Avenue; 314-367-6731). If capacity allows, additional tickets/books will be available at the door. Visit www.cocastl.org for details.
